Our health visitors are qualified nurses or midwifes who have undertaken further training in child health, health promotion, public health and health education. Health visitors aim to promote good health and prevent illness by offering practical help and supporting both new parents and parents of children under 5.

Jodie Croome, our community matron, works closely with a community nurse for older people and the district nurses in an integrated team. Sarah Jane works predominantly with people over 60 within their own homes, however patients under 60 are also eligible for a community matron referral. Jodie works with patients, patients carers and families and the patients GP to try to prevent avoidable hospital admissions in high risk patients.

District Nurses – 0117 9086634.

The District Nursing Team is led by Sarah Hewitt and is a team of experienced community nurses based at Air Balloon Health Centre. They provide a service for patients who are housebound, whether short or long term. Each patient will have their needs assessed on an individual basis. They provide skilled nursing care and health promotion ranging from wound management,chronic disease management, continence care and palliative care.

Your child’s school will tell you if your school nurse is based here at Wellspring. School nurses work closely with pupils, parents, carers and teachers, offering support and advice on a range of issues from enuresis (bed-wetting) and obesity to sexual health. They play a vital role in children’s development, carrying out screening programmes and acting as a point of contact on child protection issues.
